Summer School
Our team organises a yearly summer school with our partners for 15-16 year olds in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. The 2020 Summer School was delivered entirely online which allowed us to work with even more students.
Visits to local schools
We also regularly go out to local schools and talk to students about our research and careers in science and medicine. Click here to read about about some of our visits during British Science Week 2020.
We also work with the Evelina Hospital School, as part of their normal careers and science lessons for patients and their siblings.
King's Engaged Researcher Network
The BRC is a founding member of the King’s Engaged Researcher Network (KERN) and works with the other members to deliver regular events and workshops. KERN is a growing community of researchers interested in developing, sharing and celebrating their public engagement practice at King’s College London. To find out more about KERN and to join the mailing list visit the KERN website.
I Can Be
Women in our team regularly work with the I Can Be programme to bring 7 and 8 year-old girls into our work places introduce them to opportunities in science and medicine. Read about when the girls came to our BRC to learn about working in communications on our news page.
Native Scientist
We also take part in visits to bilingual schools to work with migrant children in their mother tongue, organised by Native Scientist. Click here to read about our visit to a Spanish speaking school.
