Course description

This session is an introduction to conducting basic statistical analysis using SPSS. This course is only open to Guy’s and St Thomas’ staff who do not hold a joint appointment with King’s College London. If staff hold a joint appointment with King’s College London they can attend SPSS training sessions organised via ISS.

All booking on this course must have attended the two parts of the Quantitative Data analysis course or have a good understanding of statistical theory, particularly inferential statistics.

Learning objectives

 By the end of the session, course students should be able to:

  • perform basic descriptive and inferential statistical procedures
  • create new variables and perform analyses on selected parts of the dataset
  • edit charts and organise output.

All participants will be given a 100-page SPSS workbook.

Derek Cooper is a former member of staff of King’s College London who now works as a freelance statistician providing training, tutoring and statistical analysis.
