Fertility preservation service

Offering ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) for female patients who cannot delay cancer treatment and/or are too young to undergo hormonal stimulation.

There are several standard options to preserve patients’ fertility such as egg and embryo freezing. However, if a patient’s cancer treatment must start urgently, none of these standard methods may be appropriate.

The Fertility Preservation Service at the Assisted Conception Unit of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust offers a unique holistic care to young men and women faced with cancer diagnosis who need to have treatment that may reduce their fertility.

It provides the most advanced options currently available for fertility preservation. These include egg/embryo freezing, ovarian tissue preservation and onco-testicular sperm extraction/onco-TES). Our encouraging outcome data for fertility preservation in patients has been recognised by international societies longest established.
