We are expanding the membership of our Research Advisory Group to help us improve our research, maximise research benefits to patients and help to determine our research priorities for the next five years.

Our Research Advisory Group brings together patients, carers and members of the local community to support and advise researchers about how best to involve and engage patients and the public in research. Training will be provided as part of an induction and you will be fully supported by the BRC PPIE team but all that is needed is your personal experience.

You don’t need any experience of research to be part of the advisory group. You just need:

  • an enthusiasm for health research
  • to be a resident or work in Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark, and/or
  • to have been a patient of Guy’s and St Thomas’ in the last five years.

It’s important that the membership of the group reflects the diverse population of our community. We welcome applications from all but are particularly seeking applications from individuals representing all protected characteristics groups, as well as people of working age and college/university students.

Currently all group meetings take place online, the group meets six times per year for two hours and members are reimbursed for their time at £25 per hour. Where possible meetings will be arranged to accommodate working schedules.

If you want to find out more, please contact: Jacintha McGahon jacintha.mcgahon@gstt.nhs.uk.

You can complete an application online. Please apply by 23:59 on 24 April 2022.
