Research projects into stroke can be greatly enhanced by input from people with experience of the condition.

The Stroke Research Patients and Family Group brings together stroke researchers from King’s College London (KCL) and people who have had a stroke, as well as their family members.

It meets every six weeks to discuss research being carried out in the KCL stroke research programme, including the South London Stroke Register, as well as studies conducted by researchers outside KCL.

The group is particularly interested in developing ideas for new research projects which answer questions that are important to people with stroke.

The group has contributed to developing patient-friendly  information literature and consent forms, as well as advising on data collection methods and strategies for ensuring that the results of research are fed back to study participants and the wider public.
