The Hands Up For Health project is an innovative outreach programme that introduces young people to careers in healthcare.

St Thomas’ Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaiL) centre opened in 2010 to train NHS staff and students. The centre features a mock, six-bed hospital ward, a consultation room and an operating theatre, which can also be used as an emergency room or intensive care unit.

Primary school students from Southwark, Lambeth or Lewisham are able to visit the centre for an insight into lots of different careers in healthcare.

HufH Primary aims to increase health knowledge, strengthen life skills for positive youth health behaviour, raise awareness of how science and research affect our everyday life and introduce students to different careers in the medicine, science and research.
