2017 BRC Clinical Training Fellow

This call for Clinical Training Fellowships (CTFs) is one of several training programmes funded by the BRC and overseen by the BRC Training Cluster STEM.  Specifically, we seek to appoint trainees to undertake one year of protected research training in areas closely aligned to BRC focussed research clusters and their themes.  It is anticipated that during the period of the CTF successful candidates will be expected to 1) complete core training modules in Translational and Experimental Medicine, 2) actively pursue their research project and 3) prepare a research fellowship application for submission to an external funding body, such as a Research Council, Charity or NIHR to support further training towards a PhD during the tenure of the Fellowship.

The scheme is open to clinical trainees from across the UK who have had, until now, a significant clinical and training commitment that has not allowed them the protected time to develop their research careers.  Candidates should have:

  • Relevant professional qualification or degree with distinction/honours
  • Registration with relevant professional body
  • Eligibility and experience at a level appropriate for registering for a higher degree (eg MRes and PhD)

In addition candidates should demonstrate a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to educational achievement and a commitment to an academic career.  This fellowship is open to EU and Home students only.

This call is now closed

The full list of available projects can be found below.  Informal enquiries about CTF projects should be addressed to the designated project supervisor.
