The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has invested in building a national BioResource, to help researchers investigate and understand how genes (pieces of code for specific traits such as eye colour) influence how and why a disease develops.

We are working collaboratively with the NIHR national BioResourceto establish a national pool of thousands of volunteers, with and without health problems, who are willing to be involved in cutting edge research studies by donating samples of their blood and saliva. To date, the national BioResource has recruited approximately 60,000 volunteers. Visit the NIHR national BioResource at www.bioresource.nihr.ac.uk

Our BioResource is part of this initiative, with more than 13,000 volunteers registered.
