Research Technician – Infection & Immunity (Band 5)

Short summary: The research technician will provide technical support for experimental medicine studies and clinical trials specifically relating to the research programmes of the Infection & Immunity Theme. Examples of these programmes include “Autoimmune and Inflammatory diseases: Pathogenesis to Immunomodulation” and the “PIRIMID study”, a biomarker study focusing on identifying risk factors of infection in patients with immune mediated inflammatory diseases. The group also have an extensive portfolio of clinical trials and related experimental medicine studies relating to the pathogenesis and therapy of rheumatic diseases.

Research Technician – Oral Health (Band 5)

37.5 hours per week

Short summary: The research technician will provide technical support for these programmes of research and clinical trials within the Oral Health Theme. The research technician will carry out a range of laboratory tasks under the supervision of Principal Investigators and other delegated laboratory staff, including molecular biology, protein, cell and immunohistochemical techniques, to facilitate these research programmes. Where required, the technician may also assist more senior staff to monitor and order laboratory reagents, maintain equipment, and train other staff in laboratory techniques.

Bioinformatician - Translational Bioinformatics Research Platform (Band 5)

Short summary: The post holder will be part of the BRC Translational Bioinformatics Research Platform and will support the development of bioinformatics solutions and the analysis of data produced by BRC research projects. This work will include data produced from using Next Generation Sequencing and high throughput microarray platforms. The post holder will be responsible for analysing data and supporting the acquisition of new and modified software. The post holder will support bringing state of the art developments in software and analysis tools to end users and providing a customised and efficient service.
