Medical Grand Round

The Guy's and St Thomas' Trust Medical Grand Round is a weekly presentation in which doctors, professors and medical professionals speak about developments within their speciality.

The aim is to ensure that all medical departments within the trust have an opportunity to present, so the presentation subject changes every week.

The talks are normally structured around a case presentation followed by a discussion of the important lessons of the case, wherever possible, bringing in evidence-based medicine and or translational research. The format of the meeting is a 40 minute presentation followed by 20 minutes discussion.

The Grand Round will be held every Wednesday, between 1-2pm, except in the first Wednesday of the month - when the  Biomedical Forum will take place.

Attendees will need to go to one of the following venues:

  • Nevin Lecture Theatre in St Thomas' Hospital
  • Sherman Education Centre in Guy's Hospital (both venues are video-linked for the event).

We would like to encourage all internal staff (both medical and non-medical) to attend the Grand Round, as these meetings provide an excellent opportunity to learn about current medical developments and interact with senior consultants.

The Grand Round is also the main postgraduate educational meetings at Guy's and St Thomas' so junior doctors and medical students are highly encouraged to attend, as it will count towards personal requirements for Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Details of future Medical Grand Rounds can be found in the events section.
