Professor Robin Ali has been appointed as Deputy Director of our Biomedical Research Centre, with effect from July 2020. His role will be to assist in development of advanced therapies, and to lead our new Advanced Therapies Accelerator. Joining us from University College London, Professor Ali brings a record of world class translational research in the field of novel gene and cell therapies for retinal disorders.

Professor Ali has also been appointed Professor of Human Molecular Genetics within the School of Basic and Medical Biosciences at King’s College London, and will lead the new King’s Centre for Cell and Gene Therapy.

He will provide King’s Health Partners with leadership in advanced therapies, working to strengthen and enhance this area of translational research and will build a Centre equipped to deliver a pipeline of gene and cell therapies from pre-clinical proof of concept to first-in-human studies and commercial development.

We’re excited to welcome Professor Ali to the BRC, and embracing the exciting new possibilities that his appointment presents.
